Global Plant-Based Movement Takes Center Stage at Vegan India Conference 2025

In a significant move, the 4th edition of the Vegan India Conference, one of the country’s most prominent platforms for plant-based innovation and sustainability, concluded successfully on July 6, 2025 at the Novotel Hotel, Juhu.

Organised by Vegan First, India’s largest plant-based community platform, the two-day event drew over 1,000 delegates, 65+ speakers, and 45 exhibitors. The conference highlighted innovation across food, fashion, health, and sustainability sectors, signalling India’s deepening engagement with global efforts toward conscious consumption.

This year’s edition featured Hon’ble Dr. Justice Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud as Guest of Honour and Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, former Member of Parliament and long-time animal rights activist, as Chief Guest. Their presence lent strong support to the growing relevance of sustainable and ethical lifestyles.

Palak Mehta, Founder of Vegan India Conference, said, “Our aim has always been to accelerate the plant-based sector and be a strong backbone. Each year we see more people, brands and institutions joining the movement through the conference and we take this responsibility seriously.”

The conference honoured actress and singer Zahrah S. Khan with the Vegan Voice of the Year Award – 2025. EORI vegan leather received recognition as a fashion innovation icon for their pioneering work in bioleathers made from eucalyptus and industrial waste.

The programme included keynotes, panels, advocacy bootcamps, mentoring sessions focused on vegan career paths, and workshops on emerging themes such as the role of AI in advocacy. The food experience featured a wide array of vegan products including artisanal cheeses, meat alternatives, yogurts, desserts, and plant-based proteins.

Exhibits ranged across food, fashion, health, and sustainability, providing attendees with a holistic, immersive view of the global plant-based landscape. The resounding success of the 2025 edition underlined India’s vital role in advancing climate-positive and compassionate lifestyle choices.
