Mumbai’s Jain community, which has often faced limited options for Jain cuisine in Asian restaurants of luxury hotels, now has reason to celebrate. Fairmont Mumbai has taken the lead by introducing a dedicated Jain menu at its flagship Asian restaurant, Oryn, making it the first luxury hotel in India to offer such an initiative.

Chef Prasad Metrani, Culinary Director of Fairmont Mumbai, said, “We wanted to create a dining experience that respects both tradition and taste. By introducing a Jain menu at Oryn, we are ensuring that our guests can enjoy authentic Asian flavors without compromising their dietary choices. This is a step towards more inclusive luxury dining in India.”

The thoughtfully curated Jain menu features a variety of dishes catering to diverse tastes. Starters include Shanghai Spice Dim Sum, Peruvian Asparagus and Corn Dim Sum, Crispy Lotus Stem, Crispy Oriental Vegetables, and Dry Cooked Haricot Beans. Soup options on the menu are Bowl of Oryn, Sichuan Soup, and Lemon Pepper Coriander Soup.

For the main course, diners can enjoy Stir-Fried Exotic Greens from the wok, Four Treasure Vegetables, Mi Fen, and Jasmine Fried Rice. To complete the meal, the menu offers Mandarin Sorbet for dessert, blending delicate flavors with a satisfying finish.

With this initiative, Fairmont Mumbai aims to set a benchmark for luxury dining in the country while catering to the specific dietary preferences of the Jain community. The launch underscores the growing recognition of diverse culinary needs in India’s high-end hospitality sector.
