Spain’s national tourism body, Turespaña, is unveiling a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting a more sustainable, authentic, and experiential tourism model: the Spain is (much) more project. The initiative is designed to showcase the lesser-known regions of Spain, focusing on culture, gastronomy, nature, and slow travel experiences.
For the first time, international journalists and influencers from six key markets—the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the United States, Canada, and Latin America—will explore Spain along six specially curated routes. Each itinerary offers a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural immersion, and culinary experiences, giving participants an opportunity to connect with Spain in a way that goes beyond the usual tourist trails.
The project is led by Turespaña in collaboration with Paradores de Turismo, ten autonomous communities, and a number of small towns and villages, many of which are part of The Most Beautiful Villages in Spain network. Participants will enjoy immersive experiences such as walking through scenic landscapes, visiting artisan workshops, engaging in show cooking sessions, and following historical trails. These activities are designed to offer a slower, more mindful way to experience the local culture and heritage.

Miguel Sanz, Director General of Turespaña
The initiative will conclude with a debriefing gathering at the Parador de La Granja de San Ildefonso in Segovia, where all six groups will come together to share their experiences and insights. This gathering aims to highlight the richness of Spain’s inland regions and demonstrate the potential of a tourism model focused on authenticity, local connections, and emotional engagement.
Miguel Sanz, Director General of Turespaña, said, “Spain is (much) more has been conceived as a dynamic platform to showcase the best of Spain’s inland tourism on the international stage. It gives travelers and professionals the opportunity to rediscover Spain in a new light while reinforcing our commitment to sustainable, experiential, and culturally rich tourism.”
Through this initiative, Spain invites visitors to experience a side of the country that goes beyond the conventional, celebrating its local culture, history, and emotional richness.
