India, Belarus Explore Film Collaboration With Nilesh Sahay

Belarus Consul General Aliaksandr Matsukou met filmmaker Nilesh Sahay in Mumbai on February 6, 2026, to explore co-productions, aiming to strengthen cinematic and cultural ties between India and Belarus.

During the meeting, both sides discussed potential collaborations in the film industry, emphasizing the exchange of creative expertise, expanding market reach, and developing content that resonates with audiences in both countries.

Sahay has a proven record in international filmmaking. In collaboration with the National Film Studio “Belarusfilm,” he shot the movie Squad in 2019. The film premiered on November 21, 2021, on ZEE5 and reached an estimated audience of 300–400 million viewers worldwide, demonstrating his ability to create content that appeals to a global audience.

Speaking about the meeting, H.E. Matsukou highlighted the importance of fostering creative partnerships and cultural exchange through cinema. Mr. Sahay expressed optimism about future collaborative projects and the potential to bring Indian and Belarusian storytelling to international platforms.

This engagement reflects the growing interest in cross-border film collaborations, with both India and Belarus actively exploring avenues to broaden their cinematic footprint. The meeting underscores a shared commitment to blending creativity, culture, and commerce in the world of filmmaking.
