The Governor of Maharashtra, C.P. Radhakrishnan, visited Mani Bhavan on 30th January 2025, the historic memorial of Mahatma Gandhi in South Mumbai, to mark the 77th anniversary of the Mahatma’s martyrdom.

The Governor offered floral tributes at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi and participated in a prayer meeting held in his honor. During the event, school children sang Mahatma Gandhi’s favorite bhajan, “Raghupati Raghav Rajaram,” in his memory.

The Governor also visited the museum and the rooms where Mahatma Gandhi had stayed. Speaking at the occasion, he urged everyone to rise above caste, creed, and religion, and called on the children to embrace the values of Satya (truth), Ahimsa (non-violence), and austerity, which Mahatma Gandhi lived by.

The trustees of Mani Bhavan shared the history of notable visits, including that of Martin Luther King Jr. in 1959 and U.S. President Barack Obama in 2010. Trustees and office bearers of Mani Bhavan, including Usha Thakkar, Sandhya Mehta, Yogesh Kamdar, Falguni Mehta, Raksha Mehta, Meghshyam Ajgaonkar, and Sajeev Rajan, were also present.
Mani Bhavan served as Gandhi’s residence in Mumbai between 1917 and 1934. It was from here that Gandhiji launched significant movements like the Satyagraha in 1919 and the Civil Disobedience in 1932.
