Senior IAS Officer Vivek Bhimanwar Takes Oath as MPSC Chairman

Maharashtra’s Senior IAS officer Vivek Bhimanwar was sworn in as the Chairman of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) at a brief oath-taking ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat. The ceremony commenced with Vande Mataram, in keeping with the new guidelines issued by the Central Government.

Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde congratulated Bhimanwar and presented him with bouquets. He has been appointed for a tenure of six years or until he attains the age of 62 years, whichever is earlier.

Earlier in the programme, the Governor’s Secretary, Dr. Prashant Narnaware, read out the appointment notification issued by the General Administration Department.

Former MPSC Chairman Rajnish Seth, Officiating Chairman Dr. Abhay Wagh, members of the Commission, Chief Minister’s Secretary Shrikar Pardeshi, senior government officials, and members of Bhimanwar’s family were present on the occasion.

It may be noted that, as per the revised protocol, the ceremony began with Vande Mataram, followed by the National Anthem and the State Song, and concluded with Vande Mataram and the National Anthem.
