Mumbai Customs Zone–III officers of the Airport Commissionerate seized a total of 64.394 kg of suspected hydroponic weed during operations on 17 March 2026. The haul, valued at approximately Rs. 64.39 crore in the illicit market, was recovered from four passengers, including one foreign national, arriving from Bangkok.
The seizures were made following spot checks and APIS profiling of passengers at the airport. All four individuals have been arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Customs officials said the operation highlights the continued vigilance against drug trafficking through air cargo and passenger movements. Authorities added that such profiling and intelligence-led checks are critical in curbing the entry of high-value narcotics into the country. The case is now under investigation, and further details are expected as Customs intensifies efforts to track down the source and network behind this illicit shipment.
