An all-party delegation of tribal MLAs from Maharashtra called on the newly appointed Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Lok Bhavan on Friday (13 March) to discuss pressing matters concerning the State’s Scheduled Tribes.
The delegation was led by Minister of Food and Drugs Administration Narahari Zirwal and former Minister Dharmarao Baba Atram. Other attendees included MLAs Bhimrao Keram, Harishchandra Bhoye, Manjula Gavit, Hiraman Khoskar, Kiran Lahamate, Amsha Padvi, Raju Todsam, Shirish Kumar Naik, and Vilas Tare.
During the meeting, the legislators highlighted ongoing developmental challenges, welfare programme implementation, and the need for greater focus on education, health, and infrastructure in tribal regions. Governor Varma listened attentively and assured the delegation of his support in addressing these concerns through coordinated efforts with the State administration.
Political observers note that such early engagements with tribal representatives signal the Governor’s proactive approach and a commitment to inclusive governance, strengthening dialogue between the State leadership and tribal communities.
