Flying the Indian hospitality flag overseas once again, Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has expanded the global footprint of its flagship Taj brand with the opening of the Taj Hotel Hessischer Hof in Frankfurt, Germany, marking the group’s entry into Continental Europe.

The landmark property, located in the heart of Germany’s financial capital, joins Taj’s portfolio of iconic luxury hotels worldwide. Built in 1952 on the site of a former city palace and long regarded as one of Frankfurt’s most distinguished addresses, the hotel has undergone extensive refurbishment aimed at preserving its historic character while introducing contemporary luxury.

With 134 rooms and suites, the hotel enjoys a prime location close to Messe Frankfurt, one of Germany’s largest trade fair and convention centres, making it an attractive destination for both business and leisure travellers.

Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of IHCL, described the development as a significant milestone in the company’s international growth journey. He noted that Frankfurt is one of Europe’s most dynamic cities and said the group was proud to revive such an iconic property under the Taj banner. Chhatwal added that the move would bring Taj’s century-old tradition of world-class service, warmth and personalised hospitality to Germany while strengthening the brand’s presence in key global gateway cities.

The hotel features several signature Taj experiences, including Bombay Brasserie, the celebrated restaurant known for its eclectic Bombay and Indian cuisine. Frankfurt also becomes home to a new outpost of The Chambers, India’s first exclusive business club. Guests can additionally enjoy the legendary Jimmy’s Bar, wellness facilities, a fitness centre, winter garden and elegant banqueting spaces.

Developed in partnership with Peakside Capital Advisors, the project is expected to set new benchmarks in luxury hospitality in Frankfurt. Industry observers view the opening as a strategic step in IHCL’s continued international expansion and a significant showcase of Indian hospitality in one of Europe’s leading commercial and cultural hubs.
