Mumbai Honors Acting Legend: ‘Shri Daya Kishan Sapru Marg’ Inaugurated

In a momentous event held in Mumbai, a street has been named after the illustrious actor Shri Daya Kishan Sapru. The newly minted ‘Shri Daya Kishan Sapru Marg’ was inaugurated in a grand ceremony featuring key figures including Bharatiya Janata Party General Secretary Shri Vinod Tawde, MP Shri Ravindra Waikar, and MLA Smt Bharati Lavekar and former MLA and Shiv Sena Spokesperson Krishna Hegde. The ceremony saw an assembly of Bollywood veterans like Jackie Shroff, Aditya Pancholi, and Johnny Lever, among others.

The new street name stands as a tribute to Shri Daya Kishan Sapru’s monumental contributions to Indian cinema. The ceremony celebrated his enduring legacy, with the street now serving as a beacon for fans and admirers of his work. The event highlighted not only his cinematic achievements but also his profound impact on cultural history.

Krishna Hegde, Former MLA and Shiv Sena Spokesperson said “Daya Kishan Sapru ji was a legendary actor who starred in over 300 films, leaving an indelible mark on the Indian film industry. His contributions, alongside those of his wife, Hemavati ji, have created a proud legacy that continues to be honored by the Sapru and Rakesh Nath families. Their remarkable impact on cinema is reflected in the significant turnout of film industry veterans and leaders from various fields, all of whom gathered to celebrate and pay tribute to the enduring influence of Daya Kishan ji and his family’s contributions to the arts”.

In a heartfelt address, the Sapru family expressed deep gratitude, stating, “The naming of this street is not merely a recognition of his cinematic achievements but a celebration of his life, his passion for the craft, and his commitment to excellence. He was not just an actor but also a loving father and a guiding light for our family.”

Shri Daya Kishan Sapru, known for his impactful roles in classics such as “Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam” and his debut in the Marathi film “RamShastri” in 1944, is remembered for his significant contributions to Indian cinema. The new street name ensures that his legacy continues to be honored and celebrated.
