Thane to face 24-hour water cut on May 21

The local civic body on Wednesday announced that Thane is all set to face a water cut on May 21, Friday.

According to the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), the water supply in the city will remain suspended from Friday 9 am to Saturday 9 am, due to reparation and maintenance work.

To minimise the discomfort caused to Thanekars, the TMC will supply water from its own reserves to various localities of Thane in phases.

The water supply will remain suspended in areas of Ghodbunder Road, Patlipada, Hiranandani Estate, Brahmand, Vijaynagari, Gaimukh, Gandhi Nagar, Surkarpada, Balkum, Majiwada, Manpada, Kothari Compound, Pawar Nagar and Azad Nagar on Friday from 9 am to 9 pm.

Similarly, from Friday 9 pm to Saturday 9 am, areas of Saket, Rutu Park, Siddheshwar Jail Tank, Johnson, Eternity, Samata Nagar, Kalwa and Mumbra will face water cut.

The civic body also stated that due to the shutdown, the water supply is likely to be maintained at low pressure for next the next couple of days till the previous level is restored. “Thus, the city might receive less water in the next 1-2 days,” TMC noted.

Officials also requested residents of Thane to keep an adequate amount of water stored to avoid any inconvenience.

“Please store enough water and cooperate with TMC to get the work done quicker and more efficiently,” the civic body said.
