Taiwan Makes All-Out Effort to Woo Indian Tourists with Roadshow in Delhi

Taiwan is actively working to become a top destination for Indian travellers, underscored by its recent roadshow at Le Meridien in New Delhi. This event, marking Taiwan Tourism’s return to India post-pandemic, was aimed at rekindling interest among Indian tourists by showcasing Taiwan’s unique attractions and facilitating smoother travel routes between the two nations.

The roadshow saw participation from over 110 travel agents and 12 prominent travel trade media, highlighting Taiwan’s appeal as both a leisure and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) destination. Key partnerships with Air India and EVA Air were emphasized, showcasing enhanced connectivity through direct and codeshare flights that offer Indian travellers more convenient options.

EVA Air’s representative underscored the importance of their collaboration with Air India, noting the smooth connectivity from Mumbai to Taiwan via codeshare flights to Singapore and Bangkok. This partnership is aimed at making Taiwan more accessible and appealing for Indian tourists.

The event featured interactive activities, including lucky draws and a social media challenge, with one participant winning a grand prize that included EVA Air tickets, airport transfer, a city tour, and entry to Taipei 101. This interactive approach helped generate excitement and reinforced Taiwan’s appeal.

Noel Saxena, Taiwan Tourism’s Representative in India, expressed optimism about Taiwan’s growing potential in the Indian market. He highlighted the significance of targeting the MICE segment and the success of recent events in Mumbai and Delhi as steps towards a stronger presence in India.

Future initiatives include a roadshow in Mumbai and a FAM (familiarization) trip for Indian travel partners, along with participation in ITB Mumbai, one of the largest travel trade shows in India. These efforts will provide further opportunities to showcase Taiwan’s diverse tourism offerings, which include Taipei’s modern attractions and natural wonders like Taroko Gorge and Sun Moon Lake.
