Princess Astrid of Belgium, leading a 300-member strong economic mission to India, met with Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.The meeting was part of the Princess’s efforts to enhance diplomatic and economic relations between Belgium and India.
Accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister Maxime Prévot, Flanders Minister of Finance Matthias Diependaele, and Belgian Ambassador to India Didier Vanderhasselt, the Princess engaged in discussions focused on boosting business and trade, promoting green energy, fostering tourism, advancing educational ties, and strengthening cultural exchanges between the two nations.
During the meeting, Governor Radhakrishnan presented Princess Astrid with a special photo album, showcasing images of previous visits made by members of the Belgian Royal Family to Raj Bhavan. This gesture underscored the long-standing relationship between the Belgian Royal family and the state of Maharashtra.
The Princess was also accompanied by Consul General in Mumbai Frank Geerkens and her advisors, Dirk Wouters and Brent Van Tassel. Following the discussions, the Governor led the delegation on a tour of the iconic Raj Bhavan, giving them a glimpse of the historical and cultural significance of the residence.
This meeting marked another step in strengthening the ties between Belgium and India, with a focus on fostering closer cooperation across a range of sectors.
