During routine duty on October 1, 2025, officers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMI), Mumbai Customs Zone-III, made a significant narcotics seizure following actionable intelligence.
Based on specific input, Customs officers intercepted two passengers arriving from Bangkok on flight SL-218. During baggage examination, officers recovered 2.992 kg of a white powdered substance suspected to be Methaqualone or Cocaine, concealed inside their checked-in luggage. Acting swiftly, a follow-up operation led to the arrest of the intended recipient awaiting the consignment in Mumbai.
In total, three persons – the two passengers and one receiver – were arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The Mumbai Customs Zone-III team emphasized that intelligence-led operations and vigilant screening continue to play a crucial role in preventing drug trafficking and safeguarding public health. The seizure underscores the airport authorities’ commitment to intercepting high-risk consignments and enforcing the law efficiently.
