Jamavar Doha’s growing stature in the global culinary world was underlined once again as the Michelin-starred Indian fine-dining restaurant was named the Best Indian Restaurant by Time Out Doha, reinforcing its position at the forefront of Qatar’s evolving food landscape. Located at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, Jamavar has emerged as a benchmark for refined Indian cuisine in the region, blending tradition with contemporary elegance.
The Time Out Doha recognition comes on the heels of Jamavar’s inclusion in the inaugural Michelin Guide Doha 2025, where it became one of only two restaurants in the city to earn a coveted Michelin star. The dual honours have placed Jamavar firmly among Doha’s most celebrated dining destinations and highlighted Indian cuisine’s growing global influence beyond its traditional markets.
Central to Jamavar’s success is celebrity chef Surender Mohan, whose culinary reputation is built on meticulous technique and a deep respect for India’s diverse regional food traditions. Known for creating layered, nuanced flavours, Mohan has played a defining role in shaping Jamavar’s culinary identity across international locations. His work is guided by the strategic vision of Samyukta Nair, the force behind the Jamavar brand, whose leadership has steered its expansion while preserving its core philosophy of authenticity and excellence.
Doha’s fine-dining scene itself is undergoing a significant transformation. The Michelin Guide’s first edition featured 33 restaurants, reflecting the city’s growing appeal as a global gastronomic hub. Alongside Jamavar, international names such as IDAM by Alain Ducasse also received Michelin recognition, pointing to a rich diversity of cuisines gaining prominence in the Qatari capital.
Jamavar Doha’s leadership has attributed its achievements to teamwork, partner support, and sustained patron loyalty. As culinary expectations rise among residents and international visitors, Jamavar’s success is increasingly viewed as part of a broader shift positioning Doha as a serious destination for world-class dining, with Indian cuisine playing a central role in that narrative.
