Chinese Embassy Hosts New Year Reception in New Delhi, Highlights Improving India-China Ties

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in India hosted a reception on Tuesday evening to celebrate the Lunar New Year, bringing together members of the diplomatic corps, senior officials, industry leaders and other invited guests.

  The event was held at Shangri-La, New Delhi, and hosted by H.E. Ambassador Xu Feihong and Madame Tan Yuxiu. The gathering was attended by diplomats from several countries, prominent dignitaries, senior government representatives, media representatives, leading media personalities, and members of the business and cultural community, reflecting the broad outreach of the occasion.

  In his address, Ambassador Xu highlighted the importance of cultural exchanges in strengthening mutual understanding and people-to-people ties. He also referred to recent developments in India-China relations, noting the positive momentum following high-level engagements between the two countries.

  Referring to the leadership-level meeting held last year, Ambassador Xu said that the interaction between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tianjin had helped place bilateral ties on a path of renewed engagement and improvement, adding that exchanges at various levels had since become more frequent.

  The reception underscored the role of cultural diplomacy in fostering dialogue and cooperation, with the Lunar New Year celebrations symbolising renewal, harmony and shared aspirations.

  The evening concluded with a ceremonial toast by the Ambassador to mark the beginning of the new year, conveying wishes for prosperity and continued cooperation between India and China.
