Varun Sharma, India’s ace mixologist of Comorin, the award-winning EHV international restaurant, has spent nearly two decades redefining the country’s cocktail culture with his ingredient-driven, inventive approach. Currently heading the restaurant’s beverage programme, he has helped Comorin earn the title of Best Restaurant Bar in India for four consecutive years at the Top 30 Best Bars India awards.
Sharma’s journey includes significant roles at some of the nation’s most prestigious venues. He served as head bartender and mixologist at Ricks in the Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi, mastering both classic and contemporary techniques. Later, as bar manager at Soda Bottle Openerwala across Delhi and Mumbai, he contributed to the brand’s distinctive beverage identity.
His expertise and creativity have earned him numerous accolades, including Best Mixologist at the Corralejo Teqnic Mixology Challenge, INCA’s Mixologist of the Year for Delhi NCR, and NDTV’s top mixology award. He represented India at the Monin Global Bartending Championship in Paris after winning the national Monin Cup in 2012 and was recently honoured as Mixologist of the Year at Zee Zest Unlimited Awards 2024 and Times Food & Nightlife Awards in 2025 and 2026. Sharma has also been featured twice among Diageo World Class mixologists.
Beyond competitions, Sharma actively contributes to the industry as a jury member at prestigious platforms like the IWS Spirit Awards and Zee Zest Unlimited Awards. His expertise spans cocktails, coffee, tea, and zero-proof beverages, reflecting a comprehensive approach to mixology.
With a career defined by consistency, creativity, and a deep understanding of flavours, Varun Sharma continues to influence India’s evolving bar culture while mentoring the next generation of mixologists.
