The Hospitality Purchasing Managers’ Forum (HPMF) Eastern Chapter hosted its Annual Convention 2026 on April 11 in Kolkata, bringing together industry leaders, procurement professionals and partners from across India, Nepal and Bhutan for an evening marked by collaboration, cultural richness and strategic dialogue.
The event began on a festive note with a traditional welcome featuring Dhaki, Dhunuchi, Shankho and Kulo dance performances, followed by a Baisakhi Agomoni presentation that set the tone for the evening. The ceremonial lamp lighting by advisory board members and distinguished guests formally inaugurated the convention.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Dr. Phalguni Das, along with guest of honour Dr. Souvagya Mahapatra and HPMF founder and general secretary Dr. Nitin Shankar Nagrale, highlighted the growing importance of innovation, collaboration and knowledge sharing in procurement within the hospitality sector.
A key highlight of the event was the announcement of new HPMF chapters in Assam and Bhutan, signalling the forum’s expanding regional presence. The convention also witnessed a strategic tie-up with the Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM), aimed at strengthening professional development. As part of this initiative, HPMF will sponsor a materials management course for 10 of its members.
Cultural elements remained central to the evening, with Baul music performances and a saxophone recital reflecting the region’s rich artistic heritage. The programme also included sponsor presentations and a panel discussion titled “India Hospitality Growth Story: How Strategic Procurement Can Drive Scale, Sustainability & Self-Reliance,” which explored the evolving role of procurement in enabling efficiency and long-term growth.
The forum also acknowledged contributions from members and partners through memento distributions and highlighted corporate social responsibility initiatives, including support for local artisans and handicrafts.
The evening concluded with a Bollywood dance performance and a networking dinner, offering attendees an opportunity to connect and exchange ideas.
Speaking on the occasion, HPMF Eastern Chapter president Biplab Bharti said the convention reflected the chapter’s growing strength and commitment to fostering meaningful engagement. Dr. Nagrale added that the forum remains focused on expanding its reach and empowering members through continuous learning and collaboration.
