Yami Gautam Dhar joined Surya Hospitals for the inauguration of the new “Amber Wing” at its Santacruz facility in Mumbai, marking the launch of “The Amber Promise for Women’s Health” initiative focused on preventive healthcare, early diagnosis and specialised treatment for women.
The newly launched Amber Wing has been developed as a dedicated women-centric healthcare facility aimed at strengthening Surya Hospitals’ capabilities in advanced surgeries, diagnostics, preventive screenings and critical care services for women. The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior doctors, healthcare professionals and members of the hospital’s leadership team.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Bhupendra S. Avasthi, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Surya Hospitals, said the new facility was designed to address the increasing demand for integrated women’s healthcare infrastructure in India. He said women’s healthcare requires specialised systems capable of handling preventive, diagnostic and surgical requirements under one roof. According to him, the Amber Wing expands the hospital’s infrastructure while ensuring access to timely diagnosis, advanced surgical expertise and compassionate patient care.
The expansion adds 55 additional beds, taking the total capacity of the Santacruz facility to more than 250 beds dedicated to women and child-centric healthcare. The Amber Wing will house specialised consultation chambers, advanced diagnostic and screening support, cardiology and cardiac surgery services, minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgeries, plastic and cosmetic surgeries, robotic joint replacement surgery and modern critical care units. Preventive health screening programmes for women will also form a key part of the initiative.
During the event, Yami Gautam Dhar stressed the importance of women prioritising their own health and seeking timely medical consultations and screenings. She said many women often place the well-being of their families ahead of their own healthcare needs, making initiatives like the Amber Wing important for spreading awareness about preventive care and early diagnosis.
Dr. Bhuvan D., Zonal Director at Surya Hospitals, said the Amber Wing would strengthen advanced surgical care in Mumbai by expanding services in cardiac sciences, orthopaedics and robotic joint replacement surgery, supported by multidisciplinary expertise and modern medical infrastructure.
As part of the launch, Surya Hospitals also introduced “The Amber Promise for Women’s Health”, an awareness-led initiative encouraging women to focus on preventive healthcare, regular screenings and timely medical intervention. The launch comes at a time when healthcare experts continue to highlight concerns over delayed diagnosis and low preventive screening rates among women in India, particularly for cervical and breast cancers.
