Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has opened Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt, marking the Taj brand’s official entry into continental Europe and its first hotel in mainland Europe. The opening marks another step in IHCL’s international expansion, bringing the Indian luxury hospitality brand to Frankfurt, one of Germany’s major financial and cultural centres.
Located in Frankfurt’s trade fair district, the historic Hessischer Hof property has undergone extensive restoration before reopening under the Taj banner. The hotel combines its longstanding heritage with contemporary luxury and Taj’s distinctive Indian hospitality, while retaining the character associated with the landmark property.
The hotel was formally introduced by Albert Mayr, General Manager, Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt; Spiridon Sarantopoulos, Senior Vice President, Operations Europe & USA, IHCL; and Gaurav Pokhariyal, Chief Operating Officer – Full-Service Business, IHCL.
Mayr said the opening marked the continuation of a story closely connected with Frankfurt, adding that the property was being reimagined for the future while retaining its longstanding identity.
Sarantopoulos said the combination of the hotel’s heritage and the international stature of the Taj brand provided a strong foundation for its future. Pokhariyal said Frankfurt, as a major European hub for business and culture, provided an appropriate gateway for introducing the Taj brand to continental Europe.
The opening was attended by members of Frankfurt’s business, political, social and cultural communities, including State Secretary Karin Müller, former dressage rider Ann-Kathrin Linsenhoff and Detlef Braun, CEO of Messe Frankfurt.
The hotel’s food and beverage offering includes Bombay Brasserie, its signature restaurant, and the reopened Jimmy’s Bar. Bombay Brasserie has been recognised in Frankfurt und Rhein-Main geht aus 2027 in the Indian Cuisine category and among its “Newcomers of the Year” in Asian Fine Dining.
The opening of Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt strengthens IHCL’s European presence as Taj continues its international growth strategy across key global markets.
