Mumbai Airport Customs Seizes Contraband Worth ₹90.89 Cr. in four Weeks
Major seizures include gold, narcotics; 40 persons arrested

Mumbai Airport Customs seized contraband and other illicit goods worth ₹90.89 crore during a four-week enforcement drive from September 7 to October 4, 2026. Customs registered 136 cases and arrested 40 persons during the period.
According to Customs, officials seized 18.04 kg of gold valued at ₹21.72 crore during the period. Narcotics accounted for the largest category by value, with 115.68 kg valued at ₹59.11 crore, including hydroponic cannabis and other prohibited substances. Of this, 7.031 kg of ketamine, valued at ₹21.09 crore, was seized.
The enforcement operation also resulted in the seizure of foreign currency worth ₹2.52 crore and 79.80 carats of diamonds valued at ₹1.50 crore. Watches valued at ₹1.60 crore were also intercepted.
Other goods seized included 71 iPhones, 1,44,400 cigarette sticks, refurbished laptops, perfumes and saffron, with a combined value of ₹4.44 crore.
Customs authorities said the seizures were made under sustained enforcement of the Customs Act, 1962, and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The enforcement measures are aimed at preventing smuggling, protecting government revenue and addressing risks associated with prohibited and controlled substances.
The four-week enforcement figures underline the continued vigilance of Mumbai Airport Customs against attempts to smuggle gold, narcotics, foreign currency, precious stones, electronic goods and other restricted items through the airport.
