Vinoy Kumar Choubey, senior IPS officer of Maharashtra Cadre has taken over as Additional Director General (ADG), Anti Corruption Bureau in Maharashtra. Prior to his new appointment as ADG he was serving as joint Commissioner of Police Law and Order (Jt CP L&O) in Mumbai Police.
As Joint CP Law and Order (L&O), he was commended for successfully maintaining complete law and order in the state. During his tenure as Joint CP L&O, his team has handled several complex tasks that include Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha Elections, Article 370, Ram Janmabhumi Judgement, CAA/NRC/ Maratha reservation agitations, Mumbai Baug and recently COVID-19. Dealing with these highly delicate situations was quite a memorable experience for ADG. Vinoy Kumar Choubey is 1995 Batch IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre has held several key portfolios of Maharashtra Police that includes Joint CP of Prestigious Economic Offence Wing and Inspector General of Police Nashik range. He was sent on deputation to Indian Embassy of Netherlands for two years which is a prestigious post handled by Indian Foreign Service officials. He was heading The Gandhi Centre, cultural wing of Embassy of India in Netherland. Prior to his posting to Netherlands, he served as Regional Passport Officer, Mumbai for almost five years. Again, RPO Mumbai’s position is headed by IFS officials. He also served as Superintendent of Police (SP) of Akola district and Headed the high profile Zone – IX of Mumbai from Bandra to Andheri for more than 2 years as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Mumbai.
Choubey is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. He did his B. Tech and M. Tech in the field of Mechanical Engineering. He is known for his penchant for technology, Choubey had played a a key role in the acquisition of a series of surveillance equipments for the police force, including drones that are proving vital in keeping hawks eye over the by-lanes of the city during the present lockdown without physical intervention.
