Earlier: Ramayan Ballet was broadcasted live which was well appreciated by Indian public

After a mega success of Virtual Ramayana Ballet which was organised by Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Mumbai (KJRI) two months ago, this time they are organising virtual Mahabhrat ballet. The Mahabharata Ballet namely “Lembayung Kuruksetra” would be presented on Saturday, November 21st, 2020. This is a colossal performance which would be presented live from Ardha Chandra Open Theatre, in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia.

This performance would be one of special markers to commemorate the close and friendly relationship between two countries, India and Indonesia. It is a continuation effort from the previous show, the live Ramayana Ballet. The live event would especially intensify the amalgamation of people to people contact between two countries through cultural similarity and distinctive heritage identity.

It is worth mentioning here that Ramayana and Mahabharata are two classical epics that live and develop for generations in the societies. Both epics are immensely popular in two countries. We all are well aware that today Mahabharata is not only a story telling from generations, but it is transformed into film, theatre and dance in India and in Indonesia. It is widely played in Bali and Java islands. Especially in Java, people love to watch Mahabharata shows in the form of Wayang, Puppet Leather Show. Sometimes, it is also an effective way to transform important messages to the people that are inserted during the show.

The Mahabharata Ballet performance is arranged in collaboration between the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Mumbai, the Provincial Government of Bali and the Indonesia Institute of the Arts, Denpasar. It is supported by the Embassy of Indonesia in New Delhi and the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. All dancers and artists of Mahabharata Ballet are thorough professional, associated with Sanggar Karawitan Bungan Dedari, Denpasar.

His Excellency Agus Prihatin Saptono, Consul General of Indonesia in Mumbai

His Excellency Agus Prihatin Saptono, Consul General of Indonesia in Mumbai says “My main aim is to encourage all my Indian friends to join this mega live event Mahabharat Ballet, Lembayung Kurusetra. I am sure; it would be a memorable performance which would further strengthen our age-old friendship. It will encourage Indians tourists to visit Bali in future. I am not exaggerating but saying with confidence that Bali is well known and one of the most sought after tourist destinations for tourists from India and across the globe. I am sure, after watching Mahabharat ballet, Indian tourists would love to visit and experience ancient historical cultural similarities in person”.

CG further added “Finally I encourage all my Indian friends to please join this event and watch it live.  Through this performance, it will also ensure that we are serious in preparing Bali as the best tourist destination, as well as, in caring for the health protocol for the safety of all. You can see it personally that performing dancers and the entire crew of Mahabharata Ballet use their face shield during the performance. All artists would compulsorily pass health screening before entering the stage. So, it’s time for my Indian friends to enjoy this Special Performance of Mahabharata Ballet:”Lembayung Kuruksetra”.

It may be noted that Virtual Ramayana Ballet which was also organised by KJRI in Mumbai and was performed on September 5th, 2020 was well appreciated by Indian audience. The Ramayan show was watched on air by around 6600 streamed-viewers live. During the event, the numbers kept on increasing. Virtual Ramayana Ballet performed lively in Prambanan Temple, Jogyakarta, Indonesia.
