Antilia bomb scare: ATS takes over Hiren death case

There is fresh development on the mysterious death of Mansukh Hiren, the key in the Antilia bomb scare case. The victim’s car was found near the Ambani house laden with explosives in it and his body was later recovered from a water body. The Maharashtra Government has transferred the Probe along with all the case-related documents to the ATS.

After the political storm over the death of businessmen Mansukh Hiren, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Sunday registered a case under sections 302 (murder), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 201 (destruction of evidence), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The development was confirmed by ATS Chief Jai Jeet Singh. According to the ATS, the FIR was registered following a complaint by Vimal Hiren, wife of the deceased.

An ATS source said the post mortem report states in the section of surface wounds and injuries that they are definitely ante mortem, which means that the injuries were caused before his death. Senior ATS officers, including DIG Shivdeep Lande, visited the spot-on Monday where Hiren’s body was found.

The case was transferred to the Maharashtra ATS after the former chief minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, raised several questions about the probe and API Sachin Vaze who was investigating the case. The ATS on Sunday officially took over both the cases – the abandoned car case and Hiren’s death case – from Mumbai and Thane police.
