Maharashtra government sets up 189 vaccination centres for women today

Foreign vaccines approved by other countries to be cleared for emergency use

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Maharashtra government has set up 189 special vaccination centres exclusively for women.

An official of the health department informed that the government has set up an average of five vaccination centres dedicated only for women in each of the 36 districts in the state.

Of the 189 centres spread across Maharashtra, Thane district has been allotted the maximum – 19 – women vaccination sites.

At all these special centres, elaborate arrangements have been made to welcome women trooping in for the vaccination doses along with other facilities and the presence of female staff.

These centres will remain operational only for the day and women willing to take the vaccine can go to these centres, the official added.

Maharashtra on Sunday added 11,141 new cases of coronavirus, taking the tally to 22,19,727. The state has so far reported 52,478 deaths due to the virus.

The case recovery rate in the state now stands at 93.17 per cent and the mortality rate is 2.36 per cent.
