Chef turned GM; Anshul Sethi joins as GM & Brand Master Chef at Fortune Park Lake City hotel

Hospitality industry veteran, a professionally trained chef Anshul Sethi has been appointed as General Manager and Brand Master Chef at Fortune Park Lake City hotel, Thane. This hotel is first and solo luxury property at Thane city till date. Anshul is a hard-core loyalist of the ITC’s Fortune group, having worked with them for over one and half decades. Prior to his new assignment he was working as Operation Manager and Brand Master Chef with same property. In his new role as General Manager and Brand Ambassador of the Fortune Park Lake City, Anshul envisions a stellar roadmap for the hotel’s positioning within the hospitality landscape. The industry has witnessed an unprecedented time last year, and Anshul his robust experience across several disciplines will steer the property to provide a product and service that is synonymous with ITC Fortune brand (FPHL).

Educational Assets: Chef Anshul did his entire schooling from Mira Model School, Janakpuri in New Delhi. Most of the foundation was laid there only as they were introduced to lot of new learning. Soon after completing his higher secondary school, he joined Welcomgroup’s Graduate School of Hotel Administration, Manipal and passed out his Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) degree with flying colours.

Beginning of culinary journey: Soon after passing out from Welcomgroup Graduate School Of Hotel Administration, he had joined Kitchen Training Program at Fortune Hotels Ltd. in Fortune Park Klassik, Ludhiana and never looked back thereafter, successfully climbed ladder of success. Immediately after the training programme was promoted to the Corporate Head Quarters of Fortune as a Chef Operation Associate and gaining further experience has become an Executive Chef in Fortune Hotels.

Switching over from Executive Chef to General Manager: Anshul, beside his routine work as Brand Ambassador Chef, he worked as an Operations Manager for six long years with this property. He worked closely with the Previous General Managers of hotel, was learning all about revenue generation/Management. The lockdown period came as a blessing for him, when they were groomed by FPHL corporate team continuously on Basics of Management Skills & Revenue Maximization. Although, it was a refresher course for other experienced General Managers of Fortune hotels, but it was a great learning for him. During the Unlock period of the Hotel Industry the Owning Board of this Hotel trusted him with this responsibility of General Manager and Brand Master Chef, and journey continued.

Anshul, a hardcore Delhi boy, but now he is a hardcore Mumbaikar. He is the first person in his family to join hotel industry. Though he was selected for many professional educational institutions, he preferred hospitality. He was interested to do something different from family business. His mother was fully instrumental in shaping his career. She believed in him and was confident of his hidden ability of culinary penchant. He used to help his mother in the kitchen whenever returned from school and college. She helped him in taking this decision and encouraged him throughout as hospitality field was new for everyone in his family. She encouraged him to join Hotel Management. There was a time post his 12th standard when all his friends were applying for either BBA or in Delhi’s colleges. He had two options either to join family business of Readymade Garments or to go for a Professional Degree of Hotel Management. His family members were not unconvinced if he was going into right direction or not. Now his close and distant relatives come to ask him to show career path to their wards in hospitality industry.

Anshul says, “I am delighted to take up this prestigious post. The hotel’s location is truly unique, and I look forward to working with our fantastic team to ensure that Fortune Park Lakecity, Thane, continues to be the destination of choice for business travelers in this dynamic bustling metropolis. I am thankful to the entire corporate team of FPHL for training me in untapped areas of management. I am working hard each day to improvise the hotel and making a wonderful experience for the guests by collaboration of my Culinary and Management skills.

Anshul further added, there is a phrase by Anthony Robbins, an American author, coach, speaker, and philanthropist. “When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears.” On that line, I must show my gratitude. “I am thankful to Dr Ajay Thakker and Dr Ankit Thakker, Principal owner of the hotel and my mentors for their continuous faith, trust and motivation towards me in the past one decade. My career journey would have been impossible without their support. I have learned lot of things from them which can’t be pen down especially taking extraordinary care of our team who are like our extended family”.
