IMD predicts heatwave in Mumbai

With a scorching sun overhead and temperature soaring in the Maximum City, a heatwave condition is very likely in Mumbai, officials said on Thursday.

The Regional Meteorological Center, Mumbai (RMC Mumbai) of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that in the next couple of days, the maximum temperature is very likely to rise even further with a possibility of heatwave conditions in isolated pockets of Konkan — majorly in Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindudurg.

As per the forecast, the weather will remain dry in Thane and Palghar regions.

Maximum temperature in Mumbai surged to 39 degrees Celsius on Thursday after mercury hit 38.1 degrees Celsius the day before. This marks the fourth day this month that the city’s maximum temperature has crossed the 38 degree-mark.
