Apple rolls out iOS 14.4.2 update with important security fix

Apple’s latest software update for iPhones and iPads also comes with a security fix. iOS 14.4.2 and iPadOS 14.4.2 comes with a critical security fix, and it should be installed by all users.

This update comes after iOS 14.4.1 and iPadOS 14.4.1 were released earlier this month and with an important security fix.

The latest iOS 14.4.2 and iPad OS 14.4.2 updates are available to download and install.

It’s available for iPhone 6s and later, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 4 and later, and iPod touch (7th generation).

To download it, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

Apple in its support page explained that the vulnerability CVE-2021-1879 was reported by Clement Lecigne and Billy Leonard of Google Threat Analysis Group.

It explains the security issues as “Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to universal cross-site scripting. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.”
