BMC proposes ₹1,200 fine for spitting in public

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal said that all beaches should be closed for visitors till April 30, 2021.

“In continuation and confirmation of the said Orders, the following additional restrictions need to be strictly followed by all Assistant Commissioners of Wards to control and arrest the spread of coronavirus on war-footing. The Assistant Commissioners shall ensure that all beaches are closed for visitors till 30 April 2021,” the BMC chief said.

Earlier, a slew of restrictions was imposed in the state to curb the rising COVID-19 cases. The MVA government announced a weekend lockdown and night curfew (from 8 pm till 7 am) during the weekdays from Monday (April 5) to April 30.

The government added Petrol pumps, government and private security services, and fruit vendors to the list of essential services.

Meanwhile, the city has recorded 9,857 positive cases on Monday, taking the total caseload to 4,62,302.
