Voting concludes for fourth phase of West Bengal elections

Voting for 44 seats in the fourth phase of West Bengal assembly elections has concluded with a turnout of 76.16 per cent.

The seats are spread across the districts of Howrah, Hooghly, Alipurduar, Coochbehar and 24 Parganas (S).

This includes regions adjacent to Kolkata, like Howrah town and seats in 24 Parganas (S) like Jadavpur, Behala and Tollygunj.

This phase will decide the electoral fate of high-profile candidates including Union Minister Babul Supriyo and West Bengal ministers Partha Chatterjee and Arup Biswas.

Seventy-one more CAPF companies will be deployed in West Bengal for the conduct of the remaining phases of polls.

The fifth phase of the assembly elections will commence on April 17 and the counting of votes will take place on May 2.
