Award-winning actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has hit out at celebrities posting holiday pictures on social media amid the horrors of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic before people in India.
A publication quotes him as saying, “These entertainment celebrities (are) posting vacation pictures at a time when the world is reeling under the worst recession. People do not have food and you are flashing your money. Have some shame!”
The actor goes on to add that perhaps these celebrities going on holidays have nothing else to show off. “But what else will they talk about? Acting? They will run out of steam in two minutes. These people have made a mockery of Maldives. I do not know what their arrangement is with the tourism industry. But for the sake of humanity, please keep these vacations to yourself. There is suffering everywhere. The cases of Covid are multiplying. Have a heart. Please don’t taunt those who are suffering. As a community, we entertainers in India need to grow up,” he adds.
Ask him if he would be travelling to the Maldives, he says, “No way. I am in my home town Budhana with my family. That’s my Maldives.”
On the work front, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will next be seen in Bole Chudiyan. Directed by his younger brother Shamas Nawab Siddiqui, the forthcoming film also stars Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead role.
His next projects include Kushan Nandy’s Jogira Sara Ra Ra with Neha Sharma and Sanjay Mishra and Sangeen by director Jaideep Chopra. Both films are currently in production and are expected to release in the second half of 2021.
