When you talk about some hard core hoteliers who are self-made and have given so much to the hospitality industry, one such name is but obvious, Celebrity Chef Inder Dev. He is recently appointed as Corporate Director Food & Beverage with Signum Hotels & Resorts. Having spent the previous three decades working in leading hotel chains, a hugely talented chef and administrator, Inder brings with him a wealth of invaluable experience.  In his colourful gastronomic journey he has worked for India’s leading hotel brands that include Hotel Corporation of India (An Air India Subsidiary), ITC Hotel chains, Oberoi group of hotels, Fortune group, Radisson and Clarks group of hotels to name a few.

Inder Dev, born in an army officer’s family in Rajasthan, is an award Winning F&B professional with 3 decades of vast experience. He is the first person in his entire family to join the hospitality industry. His parent’s always supported him to venture out in the profession of his choice whereas his close family criticized him to go off beat. Today, most of his nearest and dearest family members come to him and take his advice for putting their children into the hospitality trade.

EDUCATIONAL ASSETS: Inder did his primary education from Jaipur and joined Maharaja’s College and completed his BSc. Degree. As he was keen on pursuing a hotel management degree, he joined India’s premiere and prestigious hospitality college, Institute of Hotel Management (IHMCTAN) Mumbai 1987-90 batch. To enhance his culinary skill on international level he joined Yokohama Kenshu Centre – Japan in 1993.

SPECTACULAR CREATIVITY: Inder is known for creating many marvellous menus with unimaginable food and incredible beverages, his healthy menu of food and beverages were served to Miss India Pageant, high profile Bollywood functions, India’s top business houses, multinationals, IPL cricketers and many such prestigious events. He is an avid reader and keeps himself updated about the latest hospitality trends which emerged globally.

Inder is a Food and Wine Connoisseur who had posted over 1000’s novel creations on social media which created waves. He is also known working towards pairing Indian food with wines, which is gaining momentum. He is a globetrotter F&B administrator for luxury hotels, premium caterings or destination weddings. He also has expertise in pre-opening for hotels, restaurants, café and mass production kitchens which undoubtedly has touched the peak of flourishing passage .

Inder has been an architect at the back of creating scores of celebrated and award winning eating place brands in India. His association with restaurants, research & writing cookery books and destination catering for a la crème clients, have given him well deserved recognition. His cooking show with some of the finest traditional and heritage food simply talks about his effort in revising Indian Royal cuisines which were hidden and not experimented. He wears many hats such as Master of Matching & Mixing, Kitchen King, The Most Creative Hospitality Professional in The Country and many more.

With strong Indian cuisine specialisation and known for world cuisine made him famous among Royal Families of India. He has been with great Master Chefs and India’s legendary chefs on many platforms. Inder has worked with restaurants ranked in the world’s top 50 also was part of creating finest Indian restaurant brands. He has travelled the world and did commendable contributions towards globalizing Indian food in Japan, Europe and so on. He is a jury member for many prestigious competitions and institutions and also a life time member with Indian Culinary Forum.

AWARDS AND ACCOLADES: In his extensive culinary journey, Inder is recipient of numerous awards that includes Gurugram Achievers Award 2019,  The Times Food and Nightlife Awards 2019 for conceptualizing restaurant ‘India on My Plate’,  finalist ‘Chef of The Year’ by Hotelier India Awards 2018, 1st runner in the category ‘Outstanding Chef for the Year 2017’ at Yes Chef Conclave. His other side is that he is associated with many NGO for differently abled people and into nurturing them to make them hotel professionals.

SANJEEV KAPOOR, Padmashri Awardee Grand Master Celebrity Chef on his appointment as Corporate Director Food & Beverage exclusively spoke with MUMBAI MESSENGER NEWSPAPER  said “ Inder Dev is known to me from his blossoming days of his culinary journey. He is the finest task master and a superb chef and great human being. I have seen him creating classic dishes in his chef’s profession; he has vast in-depth knowledge of food and wine. Kapoor further elaborated “When Inder completed his Silver Jubilee of his culinary journey as a Chef, I was invited as a chief guest in Gurugram to felicitate him. On that day, I was present in Delhi but had to fly back to Mumbai at noon for professional commitments, but I ensured to return back to Delhi the same evening to attend his celebration. Because, I felt that my presence will not only boost his morale but other invitees too. Wherever he works, he would be a great asset to the organisation. I wish him a grand success in his new role.

 I, being a senior journalist have travelled widely and have covered the hospitality and tourism arena extensively. I am a witness to Inder’s three decades of culinary journey and his ups and downs. I always observed the most beautiful smile on his face; he is a dynamically humble hotelier who is hiding all his hard work secrets. A little I know about him that he used to enter the hotel before sunrise and used to leave a few hours before next sunrise. As far as my opinion is concernedI believe great leadership is about nurturing an environment where diverse talent can thrive. Where the unique skills and lived experience of individuals is celebrated and used to build successful high-performing teams.
