The Mumbai Police has arrested a man for possessing charas worth close to ₹28 lakh in the western suburbs of Andheri.
The incident took place in the Andheri MIDC area on Tuesday evening when officials of Mumbai crime branch Unit 10, who were patrolling in the area, saw the accused Sachin Mansingh Kadam carrying a bag and waiting for someone.
Out of suspicion, the cops conducted a search and recovered 970 grams of charas, which is worth ₹27.90 lakh, from the accused.
Initial investigation revealed that Kadam was a resident of Diva and that he was only transporting the contraband which he had received from another man.
The police have registered First Information Report (FIR) against Kadam under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further probe into the case is underway.
