BMC worker stabbed to death in Wadala; manhunt for 2 launched

An auto-rickshaw driver was killed by his own brother in Thane district’s Ulhasnagar allegedly due to a dispute over their mother’s property.

According to the local police, the incident took place on Wednesday when the accused Santosh Pandurang Kadam (42) attacked his elder brother Vitthal (50) after an argument.

He beat the victim up with an iron rod in public killing him on the spot.

Both residents of Ulhasnagar, the brothers had a long-standing dispute over their mother’s property, senior inspector R B Kadam of Ulhasnagar police station informed.

The accused worked in a mobile phone shop in Mumbai and was arrested by the police on Thursday for murdering his brother.

Cops have registered a case against Santosh under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation into the matter is underway.

Several incidents of violence and murder are being reported in Ulhasnagar of late. Only a few days ago, a tea vendor was killed by a 20-year-old for merely ₹20.

The accused had demanded the money for getting drugs, but when the victim refused, he attacked him and stabbed him to death.
