Indonesia lends helping hand in India’s fight against COVID

  • Indonesian CG handed over complimentary 1400 oxygen cylinders at JNPT, distribution through Red Cross Society

 In a unique goodwill gesture, Indonesian government has sent 1400 units of oxygen cylinders to India. These will be routed through Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS). The oxygen cylinders are given to Indian government on gratis basis as a sincere support from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. Prior to this, Indonesian Government has already sent 200 oxygen concentrators on 12th May 2021 to New Delhi. The remaining of 2000 oxygen cylinders are slated to arrive in the forthcoming weeks.

 The consignment was received in presence of His Excellency Agus P. Saptono, Consul General of Republic of Indonesia in Mumbai, Manoj Kumar Rai, Regional Passport Officer Mumbai, Sandeep Bokhale Commissioner of Customs and T.B Sakloth, Secretary General of IRCS at Nhava Sheva Port.

 The Consul General in his statement said, “The pandemic of COVID-19 is a common problem for all nations; therefore, it should also be anticipated through strong collaboration between nations. Indonesia’s support aims to strengthen the spirit of togetherness as well as to give assistance to our Indian fellows during the challenging times.

 CG further stated (Indonesia and India have mutual cooperation and close relationship for more than seventy years. India is one of the strategic partners for Indonesia in some aspects that includes diplomatic and economic. This support from Indonesia was delivered along with best wishes for both India and Indonesia in order to recover stronger and to recover together amidst the pandemic Covid19.

 Manoj Kumar Rai, RPO Mumbai as a representative of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in his response expressed his gratitude towards Indonesia’s aid. RPO said “This humanitarian aid from Indonesian government does not only bring positive hopes for people of India, but also means a lot to humanity.”
