MUMBAI: With yet another hike, the price of petrol in Mumbai has now breached the Rs 106-mark.
A litre of petrol in the metropolis now costs Rs 106.25.
According to the official date, the rate of petrol went up by 33 paise on Wednesday, after remaining unchanged on Tuesday at Rs 105.92 per litre.
Meanwhile, the rate of diesel also increased by 18 paise in the financial capital. One litre of diesel is now priced at Rs 97.09 in Mumbai.
At present, fuel rates are the costliest in Mumbai in the entire country.
Wednesday saw the fourth fuel price hike of July, the first three times being on July 2, July 4 and July 5.
Troubled by the ever-increasing rates of fuel, Mumbaikars have been requesting the authorities to resume local trains once again for the common public. At present, only healthcare workers and essential staffers are allowed to board the trains.
However, with the risk of a third wave of Covid-19 looming over the city, civic officials have been delaying the resumption of services and are waiting for the positivity rate to dip even further.
