Borivali Jain Sangh is a umbrella body of 27 Jain temples spread over Borivali East and West.
Acknowledging the contribution during pandemic, a felicitation programme was organized by the Governor of Maharashtra, B K Koshiyari to honour the selfles contribution by Borivali Mumbai’s 27 Jain sangh for their outstanding community work during the COVID-19 pandemic. The felicitation ceremony was held at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai.
Borivali MLA Sunil Rane, Snehal Shah – Convenor of the Borivali Jain Sangh, Corporator Pravin Shah and Binaben Doshi were prominent personailities who were present during felicitation ceremony.
The Governor B K Koshiyari while addressing a gathering praised the outstanding initiative by 27 Jain sangh. Governor appreciated work carried out by them doing selfless responsibility towards society. The Governor said “Whenever there is a pandemic or natural calamities, Jain community always come forward to support whole heartedly without doing any publicity. The jain community always stand by the social causes whenever needed”.
The members of Borivali 27 Jain Sangh who were felicitated by the Governor included Chetan R Shah, Dilipbhai V. Shah, Deepakbhai S. Shah, Bakulbhai A. Shah, Hitendra S. Shah, Navratan J. Sanghvi, Dinesh T. Shah, Hitesh B. Shah, Hiren B. Sheth, Rameshbhai Jain, Chandrakant Doshi, Rameshkumar A. Shah, Hitendra Mokhiya, Ashok M. Shah, Kiritbhai M. Maniyar, Manish Tater, Dhirajlal l. Shah, Jignesh Shah, Jitendra D. Shah, Rajubhai Vora, Kantibnhai C. Shah, Kirit K. Shah, Suresh H. Lakhani and Rameshbhai Sanghvi.
Snehal Shah Convenor of the Borivali Jain Sangh speaking to Mumbai Messenger Newspaper said “The felicitation programme was organised as a mark of respect for 27 Jain Sangh, who made great contributions to help the victims of Covid. Indeed, it is a proud moment for us, as Governor of Maharashtra invited sangh members at Raj Bhavan. The pandemic has hit the world in a way that none of us could have foreseen. Amidst such an unprecedented crisis, some people were deprived of food. It was time for us to come together and help the most vulnerable, the unprivileged so that they can feed themselves”.
Shah adds “I am humbled to have been recognized by the Governor of Maharashtra for our contributions during the lockdown. It is a morale booster for all our sangh members. I believe it was our responsibility and will continue to work relentlessly in time to come”.
The 27 Borivali Jain Sangh is umbrella group of 27 Jain temples spread over in Borivali East and West area which is named as 27 Borival Jain Sangh. All the temple sangh take collective decision for humanity services whenever need arises.
It is to be noted that whenever there is an urgent need for social cause for mankind, Jain communities always come forward to take part in it. In a similar gesture during the pandemic, 27 Jain Sanghas from Borivali Mumbai came forward to provide rations and packed food for needy people through various outreach activities.
It is worth mentioning here that during pandemic, 27 Borivali Jain Sangh’s members came forward and open their purses for poor and downtrodden people. The sangh provided 15000 ration packets which consisted of wheat, Rice, Sugar, dal, oil packets, masalas etc. After seeing our gesture, government of Maharashtra requested sangh to provide 10,000 more ration packets, which we obliged to. Besides distributing ration, sangh also provided around 4 lakh food packets and around 10,000 oxygen cylinders for needy.
