Argentine Ambassador meets Maharashtra Governor

The Ambassador of Argentina to India His Excellency Hugo Javier Gobbi called on the Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari today on 4th October, 2021 at the Governor’s official residence, Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.

While meeting with Governor H. E. The Ambassador stated that Argentina has lots of ongoing cooperation with India in the field of nuclear research and other areas. He called for strengthening the cooperation with India in the areas of trade, tourism and culture. The Ambassador was speaking to Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari during a courtesy call.

The Argentenian Ambassador H.E. Hugo Javier Gobbi, calling for a major fillip to tourism between India and Argentina said “India is an incredibly beautiful country, however he lamented that in the year of 2019, out of 13 million Indian tourists only 8000 tourists visited Argentina. He added that out of 2 million, 14000 Argentine tourists visited India.

  The honorable Governor B. S. Koshyari said “India offers tremendous opportunities for tourism. We seek cooperation from Argentina in increasing tourism”. He also said “Football is a very popular sport in India and added that there are more fans of Messi in India than perhaps in Argentina. He said Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona is a household name in the country”.

The Consul General of Argentina in Mumbai His Excellency Guillermo Devoto, Deputy Consul General Cecilia Risolo and Head of Political Section in the Embassy of Argentina Renato Morales were also present with the Ambassador.

It may be noted that The Argentenian Ambassador H.E. Hugo Javier Gobbi presented his credentials to The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind,  on February 11, 2021 in a virtual ceremony.
