A 41-year-old woman was booked for dumping her child in a toilet dustbin after delivering the baby in a five-star hotel in Mumbai on Monday.
The incident came to light at 10.30 am, when a housekeeping staff member went to the toilet on the eighth floor to clean it and heard the child crying.
The hotel staff informed the police and a case was registered at the N M Joshi Marg police station against the woman.
The child was admitted to the NICU of Nair hospital. The baby boy weighs around 2.8 kg and is said to be in a stable condition.
The accused, a resident of Goregaon (East), was traced by the police on the basis of CCTV footage.
The woman in a preliminary inquiry said that she came to the hotel for some work, but due to sudden labour, she delivered the child in the toilet. She had a personal dispute with her husband and hence she abandoned the child there.
