Globally popular Swiss pianist Fabrizio Chiovetta performs in Mumbai

In the framework of its public diplomacy campaign Swiss It!, the Consulate General of Switzerland in Mumbai has announced two highly acclaimed concerts of Swiss pianist Fabrizio Chioveta in Mumbai with the SOI Chamber Orchestra. It is led by resident conductor Mikel Toms.

 Highly acclaimed pianist is globally popular, keeping this in mind two shows are organised in Mumbai on 13th June at Prithvi Theater and at NCPA on 14th June. Surprisingly both concerts are sold well in advance.

His Excellency Othmar Hardegger, Consul General of Switzerland in Mumbai said “We can see the popularity of pianists who is in good demand in Mumbai. As shows are completely sold out, we are grateful for the generous response!

It may be noted that the Swiss Consulate in Mumbai always remains in limelight to organise popular events in Mumbai which always becomes the talk of the town. The Mumbaikar’s always look forward to being a part of the coveted events and patronize it in large numbers. As both concerts are completely sold out well in advance, it showcases the volume of liking of Swiss Pianist.

About Swiss pianist Fabrizio Chiovetta: After winning an impressive range of prizes during the first years of his career, has issued a series of critically acclaimed recordings. Born in Geneva, Switzerland, on December 9, 1976. Enrolling at the Superior Conservatory of Geneva, he majored in piano and music theory but also took courses in Italian literature, mathematics, musicology, and the Latin language before settling on the piano as a career.

Winning the city of Geneva’s Adolphe Neumann Prize, Chiovetta went on for further study at the Tibor Varga Academy in the Swiss city of Sion, graduating with highest honors in 2003. He has also studied with Paul Badura-Skoda and John Perry, focusing on historical Viennese instruments as well as works for the modern piano.

Chiovetta won several unusual prizes that testify to his ability to engage listeners: the Audience Award at the Klaviersommer Festival in Germany in 1999, an honorary mention from the Seventh International Web Concert Hall, based in the U.S., in 2005. His recitals and chamber music appearances have taken him across Europe, North America, and Asia. In 2010, Chiovetta released a recital of Schumann piano works on the Palexa label that earned raves in both Europe and the U.S., and he was signed to Switzerland’s Claves label. He released a recording of Schubert’s Piano Sonata in B flat major, D. 960, in 2013. He has also recorded Bach for Claves, and in 2018 he appeared in a chamber group with Patrick Messina and Henri Demarquette for an album of contemporary works by Henryk Gorecki, Pärt, and Jaan Rääts.
