Dr Indra Mani is new VC of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth

The Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of public universities in the State Bhagat Singh Koshyari today appointed Dr Indra Mani as the new Vice Chancellor of the Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani.

Dr Indra Mani has been serving as the Joint Director Research at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi (ICAR). He has been appointed as Vice Chancellor for a term of 5 years from the date he assumes the charge of the office of vice chancellor.

He succeeds Dr Ashok Dhawan whose term as vice chancellor ended on 6th May 2022. Dr Pramod Yeole, vice chancellor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Aurangabad was holding the additional charge of the post.

Dr Indra Mani obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute. He has vast experience of teaching, research, administration and extension service.

The Governor had constituted a selection committee under the chairmanship of Prof. Jagmohan Singh Rajput, Former Director, NCERT, New Delhi to recommend to him a panel of names suitable for appointment of the Vice Chancellor.

Dr. A. K. Singh, Director, Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) and Eknath Dawale, Secretary to Government (Agriculture), Agriculture & ADF Department were members of the Committee.

The Governor announced the name of Dr Indra Mani after interviewing all candidates recommended by the panel.
