Her Excellency Peggy Frantzen, The Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Tuesday, 30th August, 2022.
During the cordial meet, opportunities for cooperation and collaboration between India and Luxembourg were discussed.
Honorary Consul of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Mumbai Perses Bilimoria and Counsellor Steve Hoscheit were also present.
It may be noted that The Duchy of Luxembourg was a state of the Holy Roman Empire, the ancestral homeland of the noble House of Luxembourg.
It may be noted that in the recent past during an interactive session hosted by Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC). In her The Ambassador emphasised that “Both India and Luxembourg are looking at initiatives to improve the supply chain network. Our priorities currently should be the trade between the financial sector and the innovative sector. Luxembourg intends to host thousands of tourists every year from India but due to covid and other reasons have taken a hit. But we hope to work out on the issue at the earliest.
She added “Together with West Bengal, we are also hopeful of exploring various opportunities in the healthcare sector of the state. Luxembourg also has an intention of initiating a health and life insurance campus in 2024 in Bengal.”
It is worth mentioning that Luxembourg is one of the world’s most important financial centres. Presently there are about 17 Luxembourg companies who are operating in India. Whereas, 79 Indian companies have raised capital by issuing Global Depositary Receipts (GDRs) at the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. The top Indian companies include such as Reliance Industries, Tata companies, Larsen & Toubro and Hindalco to name a few.
