The festival of Holi was celebrated across the country with pomp and splendour with people smearing colours on each other and exchanging greetings and sweets. The boundless celebrations of the festival of colours came after three years of COVID-19 pandemic-induced restrictions. People in several Embassies engaged in festivities. The Ambassador of Myanmar took the lead to celebrate Holi.
His Excellency Moe Kyaw Ambassador of Myanmar in India along with Indo-Myanmar Friendship Association and Global Trade & Technology Council organised Holi (Festival of Colours) celebrations on March 8th, 2023 in New Delhi.
The event was attended by exclusive members and guests of GTTCI. There were many Ambassadors who happily attended the event. The Ambassadors and diplomats who attended the event included the ambassadors of Thailand, Syria, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Trinidad and Tobago and Comoros. Besides ambassador’s there were many Deputies Chief of Mission who participated in the event that included Indonesia, Madagascar, Hungary, Malaysia, Lesotho, Cambodia, Trinidad and Tobago, Brunei and Palestine.
The event was also graced by Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Founder President GTTCI, and Sushil Goswami. The event was supported by collaborative efforts by GTTCI’s esteemed partners, Pawan Kansal, and Dr. Gaurav Goyal. Other support partners included Mustafa Khan and Balvinder Singh.
Observing the diversity demonstrated in nature and the Indian Diaspora, the event of Holi festivities was graced by a dance performance by “Ol that Jazz”. It served as a reminder of being positive and hopeful. This celebration of joyful and harmony when plants bloom and animals become more active was carried forward through felicitations of Ambassadors and diplomats. There are several exclusive performances like songs sung by Abhishek Khandelwal and dance by Malika Baig and team, Pavani Aggarwal and Nandini Singh.
It’s that time of year when everyone happily gets ready to celebrate Holi, one of India’s most bright celebrations. Celebrating Holi on the lawns of the Myanmar Embassy, the diplomats and guests embraced the event with great fanfare and excitement. The celebration also witnessed experience sharing the spirit of both the occasions through welcoming of the Spring season. Among the cultural performances on Holi, the most prominent was the dance and song performances. The members also shared the famous Basant Utsav with singing, dancing, and playing with colours. The audience was enthusiastic throughout the entire event. The event was remarkable followed by an interactive session and high tea.
It is worth mentioning that many embassies in New Delhi take pride in celebrating the Holi festival. The Ambassadors of various countries exclusively organise Holi events with much fanfare. Here exclusive and prominent guests, invitees and Embassy staff participate in the event. Indeed, it’s a proud moment for India and every citizen of India.
