Laoshan Mountain’s First International Spring Tea Festival Launched

The First Laoshan Mountain International Spring Tea Festival opened in Laoshan district on April 23, 3023, in the presence of Global journalists to witness the event. The tea festival was inaugurated by Hu Zhengyue, Vice President of CPDA. Honourable Hua Chunying, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affair also shared her inaugural comments through video speech. The video speech was also delivered by Zhang Jun, China’s permanent representative to the United Nation. The event began with a cultural performance and a promotional video of Laoshan mountain ancient tree tea was also presented.

The event was a magnificent presentation of a cultural show which was performed by male and female local artists. The dance performance was cheered by all the guests who were present at the event.

There were several tea stalls laid out and were offering tea for testing to all visitors. The visitors were not only testing the tea but also purchasing from them. The tea stall owners had come from various ethnic groups, wearing traditional attire from their regions.

Artists who played cultural show

It was a colourful combination of various ethnic groups who were serving and selling tea with a natural smile on their faces. At the event, a brand of Laoshan tea was launched. The best tea award was distributed to winners and sharing of tea culture by online celebrities was also held. There was a promotion of Malipo ancient tree tea by an expert representative. Lyu Caiyou, leader of the expert group of tea industry, Yunnan key agricultural modernisation also present

It may be noted that Laoshan is the highest latitude tea-producing region in China. It is recognized as the “hometown of famous tea in Jiangbei” (Jiangbei refers to the region north of the Yangtze River). The tea industry is a crucial part of rural revitalization in Laoshan district. According to local officials, the industry employs nearly 30,000 farmers in total. With a planting area of about 1,333 hectares, the area produces tea worth 500 million yuan ($70.67 million) annually. The value of the “Laoshan Tea” brand is estimated at about 1.29 billion yuan.

Tea testing at stalls

The event was also attended by various dignitaries that included Feng Rui, Secretary of CPC Malipo country committee, Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong, Chairman of the Guangdong -Hong Kong- Macao Bay area entrepreneurs union.
