Indian Government Offers Fully Funded Scholarships for Sri Lankan Students to Study Hindi

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, has launched a comprehensive scholarship program for Sri Lankan nationals interested in studying Hindi at the prestigious Kendriya Hindi Sansthan (Central Institute of Hindi) in Agra for the academic session 2024-2025. This fully funded scholarship aims to strengthen cultural ties and promote linguistic exchange between the two nations.

Return Airfare: The scholarship includes the provision of return airfare, ensuring a hassle-free journey for students from Sri Lanka to Agra, where the Kendriya Hindi Sansthan is located.

Stipend: To support the living expenses of the scholars during their study period, a stipend will be provided, offering financial assistance for daily needs.

Hostel Accommodation: Successful candidates will benefit from hostel accommodation, creating a conducive living environment that fosters a sense of community and cultural exchange.

Annual Book Grant: The scholarship also includes an annual book grant, allowing students to access essential learning resources for their Hindi language studies.

Eligibility Criteria:

This scholarship opportunity is open to Sri Lankan nationals who meet the following criteria:

Age Group: Applicants must fall within the age range of 21 to 35 years, ensuring that the program caters to individuals in a dynamic phase of their academic and professional journeys.

Hindi Proficiency: Candidates should have prior experience in studying Hindi at the beginner or intermediate levels, demonstrating a foundational understanding of the language.

Applicants are required to appear for an interview with the duly filled application forms at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (Indian Cultural Centre), located at 16/2, Gregory’s Road, Colombo 07. The interviews are scheduled to take place on 26 February 2024, between 10 am to 01 pm.
