The Mumbai branch of the Government Engineering College – National Institute of Technology (GEC – NIT) Raipur recently organized its Alumni Meet at the Acres Club in Chembur, Mumbai, with the presence of Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais.
During his address at the event, Governorurged members of the GEC Alumni association to consider establishing a hostel for students hailing from Chhattisgarh who come to Mumbai for higher education and career opportunities.
Highlighting the importance of imbibing work culture and professionalism, Governor Bais emphasized the valuable lessons that can be learned from the people of Mumbai. Drawing parallels, he also lauded the trend of support and assistance extended to students from their home state, exemplified by the people of Rajasthan in Mumbai, who have established hostels and aided youth in pursuing careers such as Chartered Accountancy and Company Secretaryship. Governor Bais urged successful individuals from Chhattisgarh residing in Mumbai to contemplate similar initiatives for the benefit of students from their state.
Acknowledging the significant contributions made by alumni of Raipur Government Engineering College, with over fifty thousand alumni nationwide and 650 in Mumbai, Governor Bais urged them to leverage their expertise and experience to provide online guidance and create vocational training opportunities for current students.
The event saw the presence of prominent figures including Raipur GEC NIT Alumni Association President and former CMD of Hindustan Copper, Kailash Dhar Diwan, Mumbai Branch President Anil Banchor, along with members of the Alumni Association and their families.
