France’s Consul General Meets Maharashtra Governor to Discuss Academic Collaboration

Study in France: No French needed—many courses available in English

His Excellency Jean Marc Sere Charlet, the Consul General of France in Mumbai, met with Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai on October 21, 2024,. This meeting focused on enhancing academic collaboration between France and Maharashtra, emphasizing opportunities for student and cultural exchanges.

During the discussion, Consul General Charlet highlighted that prospective students interested in studying in France need not be fluent in French, as over 1,700 university programs are available in English. This initiative aims to make higher education in France more accessible to Indian students, fostering a deeper cultural and educational connection between the two nations.

H.E. Charlet also announced that 2026 will be celebrated as the France-India Year of Innovation, a year aimed at promoting collaborative ventures in various sectors, including education, technology, and research. The Consul General expressed optimism about the potential for partnerships that could enhance innovation and development in both countries.

Governor Radhakrishnan welcomed these initiatives, recognizing the importance of international collaboration in education and cultural exchange. The meeting underscored the growing ties between France and India, particularly in the realm of academia, and set the stage for future engagements that could benefit students and institutions in Maharashtra.
