EPFO denies hike, warns pensioners against fake messages & links

Several videos and messages have gone viral on social media claiming that members of the Employees’ Pension Scheme 1995 (commonly known as EPF-95) will receive a monthly pension hike of ₹7,500 starting from July 2025. These messages are also urging pensioners to complete KYC procedures and click on suspicious links to “enrol” for the scheme.
However, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has strongly denied these claims. An EPF official clarified that no Government Resolution (GR) has been issued regarding any pension hike. He said that if there is any such decision in the future, EPFO will release an official press note and inform the public through all major media platforms.
To prevent confusion, EPFO offices have already displayed large notices clearly stating that no announcement of a pension increase has been made. The official also appealed to the public not to believe in these rumours and not to share their personal information or documents on any unofficial websites or links being circulated online.
He further explained that those who are currently drawing pension under the EPF-95 scheme are already registered in the official database, and there is no need for them to re-enrol or submit fresh KYC. The pension is directly credited into their bank accounts using the data already available with EPFO.
In recent days, even the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and other government fact-checking sources have flagged similar social media posts as fake. Several reputable news websites have also published reports warning citizens against falling for these fraudulent claims.
The government had earlier discussed increasing the minimum pension under the EPS-95 scheme, but there has been no final approval or notification issued so far. Until any such official update is announced, pensioners are advised to stay alert, avoid fake news, and rely only on trusted EPFO sources like their website (www.epfindia.gov.in) and official social media channels.
Public is urged to avoid panic and not fall prey to misinformation or scam links. Pensioners can continue to receive their benefits without any fresh procedures unless clearly instructed by EPFO through official communication.
