The Department of Posts, Maharashtra Circle, and the Global Confederation of Cow-based Industries (GCCI) on Monday signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening the cow-based economy and promoting products derived from indigenous cattle resources.
Addressing the press after the signing ceremony in Mumbai, Amitabh Singh, Chief Postmaster General of Maharashtra and Goa Circle, said the partnership would enable logistics and retail support for entrepreneurs engaged in cow-based industries.
Singh said the Maharashtra Circle of the postal department would provide logistics services to GCCI through its established delivery network. As part of the initiative, 38 post offices across the state have been identified where special counters will be set up to promote and sell cow-based products. According to officials, the initiative has strong business potential due to growing consumer interest in natural and traditional products.
GCCI, a Section 8 company, represents a rapidly expanding sector that produces more than 300 products derived from cow milk, dung and urine. These include a range of wellness, agricultural and household items developed through traditional knowledge and modern research.
Under the agreement, the postal department will serve as the primary logistics partner for GCCI. Products will be delivered across the country using services such as Speed Post, India Post Parcel and Logistics Post, ensuring doorstep delivery for customers and wider market access for producers.
Selected post offices will also explore showcasing GCCI products under the Retail Post service, helping promote the goods directly to consumers and providing additional visibility for rural entrepreneurs working in the cow-based sector
The event was attended by Vallabhbhai Kathiria, former Union Minister of State and chairman of GCCI Gavyasidh, who welcomed the collaboration and expressed hope that it would boost innovation and entrepreneurship in cow-based industries.
During the press conference, Kathiria also announced that GCCI will organise an international summit and exhibition titled Gau Tech 2026 from March 20 to 23 at the Agriculture College Ground in Shivaji Nagar, Pune. The event will focus on science, technology, research and entrepreneurship in the cow-based economy, bringing together innovators, researchers and industry stakeholders from India and abroad.
