The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) has appointed Cho Yoonmi as the new Director of its New Delhi office, effective June 30, 2026, reinforcing its commitment to expanding South Korea’s tourism footprint in India, one of its fastest-growing outbound travel markets.
A tourism professional with more than 25 years of experience at KTO, Cho Yoonmi brings extensive expertise in destination marketing and international tourism promotion. She will lead the organisation’s initiatives to strengthen engagement with the Indian travel trade, enhance consumer awareness and encourage more Indian travellers to explore South Korea.
In her new role, Cho will focus on expanding KTO’s outreach across major Indian cities while building stronger partnerships with airlines, tour operators, travel agencies and other industry stakeholders. The organisation also plans to introduce campaigns that highlight authentic Korean experiences beyond conventional sightseeing.
Speaking on her appointment, Cho Yoonmi said India has evolved into one of the most significant markets for Korean tourism. She noted that the relationship between the two countries has grown steadily over the years and expressed confidence that closer collaboration with travel partners would help position South Korea as a preferred destination for Indian visitors.
KTO said it intends to capitalise on the growing interest among Indian travellers in Korean culture, cuisine, entertainment, shopping and nature-based experiences. Future initiatives will focus on immersive, experience-led travel that showcases the country’s rich heritage alongside its modern attractions.
With outbound travel from India continuing to grow, the organisation believes the new leadership will further strengthen tourism exchanges between the two countries. Industry observers expect Cho’s appointment to support KTO’s long-term strategy of increasing visitor arrivals from India through sustained partnerships, targeted promotions and innovative marketing initiatives.
